Practice mindfulness meditation
Dance, sing, play music
Spend time in nature
Be curious about yourself and others
Identify positive qualities about yourself
Do something at which you’re not an expert or in charge
Change your “shoulds” to “coulds”
Practice kindness and understanding towards yourself
Recognize the common humanity of suffering - you are not alone in your pain
Savor positivity (joy, gratitude, serenity, interest, hope, pride, amusement, inspiration, awe, love)
Eat regularly and healthily
Get enough sleep
Practice good hygiene
Exercise 3-5 times per week, preferably doing something that is actually fun
Try acupuncture, get a massage, or practice yoga
Go to the doctor and make sure there is not an underlying medical cause for mental health struggles
Connect with loved ones or potential new friends
Find a community - join a book club, take an art class, volunteer
Give yourself permission to rest and say “no” to others
Remember that everyone gets lonely, and most people love receiving a text message or call from someone they haven’t heard from in a while
Validate the emotions, wants, and needs of others, even if you don’t agree, and then do the same for yourself
Recognize your FOMO (fear of missing out) and JOMO (joy of missing out) and see if there could be a time to do the opposite of your norm
Practice “I feel” statements to describe how you feel, but don’t forget to advocate for yourself
